WHO WE ARE

Mission Cats is comprised of a unique group of individuals who have worked exclusively with cats in the Bay Area for over two decades.

Founded in 2009 in San Francisco’s Mission neighborhood, Mission Cats was one of a few cat-only hotels and cat-only house sitting services in the city. After 10 years, and over 5,000 cats served. In 2019, we closed our boarding facility in the Mission. However, we continue to offer superior In-Home Care.

Our satisfied local cat owners no longer worry about what to do with kitty when planning a vacation or when suddenly called out of town. We offer you the freedom to travel, even on short notice, with the knowledge your cat is happy and safe at home under dependable and reliable care.

WHY CHOOSE MISSION CATS?

What sets us apart from other pet sitters is our extensive In-Home Care experience. We have dealt with many different types of feline behaviors on a daily basis, so we understand all their unique personalities and know the warning signs of most health problems that may arise while you’re away, which often go unnoticed by friends, neighbors and busy boarding facilities.

Our Payment Terms

We require a 25% deposit to hold a reservation.  If cancelled with 7 days or more notice prior to your appointment, you will be refunded the deposit.  Less than 7 days, all payments are non-refundable.  

Holiday Periods

Memorial Day, July 4th, August 26-September 4, November 18-26 and December 20 – January 5.

Visits

We have a 5-visit minimum during our peak November 18-26 holiday period, and a 7-visit minimum during December 20-January 5.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Many kennel workers double as technicians and are rarely allowed time to socialize with boarding pets apart from brief feeding and litter changing times. So, the kitties are often left alone without human interaction most of the day and night, feeling scared and forlorn.

Where they continue their daily routine in a familiar environment. Unlike dogs and people, cats are not thrilled about new experiences.

Cats are much happier and adapt well to a compassionate caregiver who interacts with them for an extended period of time. If there are two cats in the house who keep each other company, we’ve noticed they are happier with frequent visits. With daily visits, cats are much calmer and meow less (complain) when we visit.

We love working with shy and complicated cats!  If you have kitties who are shy or nervous/aggressive around new people, please let us know so we can plan how best to approach your kitty.

We will try not to ring the buzzer to alert them of a new person when we arrive for the meet and greet of a shy cat and will call instead.

We do our best to respect the boundaries of all kitties – especially those who are apprehensive.  We do need to put eyes on them every visit so that we know they are doing well.

Please provide favorite hiding spots.  It is very rare that a kitty hides for more than a visit or two while under our care. In saying this, we do not stress shy kitties by sitting or staying in their home for full 30 mins.  We will give them their space back soonest to ensure their comfort. Exposing your cats to safe, cat loving humans can help them as they go through life because they may need medications and care from those other than yourself in the future.  It’s never too late to help your kitties start to accept new people.  Increased comfort around others will no doubt improve their quality of life (and yours) down the road.
We are glad to send updates to you via text or email ($2 per cat, per visits).  Some twice daily clients request updates after every visit so don’t be shy, you’re not the only one!  We really enjoy sharing progress and pictures with our clients.

Please do not worry if you do not hear from us right away, as technology occasionally fails or we’re late sending an update.  We will never miss a visit with your kitties but if we do miss an update, you can be sure that another update is soon to follow!

Also, we understand needing to get away for a while, so we are just as happy to send fewer or no updates, if you prefer.  As a Mission Cats client, you may update your preferences regarding updates format and frequency in the client profile so we will know your wishes prior to each trip.  We want to make your time away is as comfortable, stress free, and worry free as possible, for everyone involved.

Please be sure to inform us once you have returned home, if it’s earlier than planned.

We are more than willing to continue to visit your kitties if you are delayed given enough advance notice.
